My Project

Every year, many of our students enter our classrooms with unique sensory needs. In order to help them maintain focus and receive the necessary sensory input to regulate themselves, it is necessary to have a variety of tools and gadgets in our classrooms. With a school stash of sensory supplies, the special education teachers can draw from this library of materials so that each child has what they need in their own classroom to feel comforted while learning. We can utilize these tools to have specific items available in individual calming areas within classrooms, so that students have safe spaces where they can take a break when needed.

What a wonderful world it would be if all of our students had access to materials to ensure sensory regulation!

Students could receive sensory input by swinging or rolling their feet while seated at their own desks. Fidgets would be available for students to use at their fingertips so that they can have tangible items to self sooth while learning. Weighted lap pads would provide comfort and calmness to students in their seats while learning so that they can maintain focus in class. Please consider helping out all of our students who benefit from these materials by contributing to this project and creating a School-wide Sensory Stash!
