Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Lets give our special students the opportunity to develop and learn life long skills through the wonderful experience of dramatic play!

My preschoolers are between the ages of 3-5 years old with a variety of special needs.

Some of my students are just beginning to develop their speech. Although most of my students are very active and hands-on, they are not yet interacting with each other. They enjoy exploring new materials, hands-on activities, and music. The majority of my students come from low income families where English is their second language, so they have an extra situation to overcome. This is the first year our campus serves a preschool special education program. To set up our room, we received materials from another site, but unfortunately, some of the items are not adequate for our special preschoolers, some materials (puzzles) are incomplete, and/or the items are not of interest to our students. We are working with what we have, and making the best out of it. My classroom has a block area, painting area, music area, and a small library. I would like to offer my students a great dramatic play area where they will have the opportunity to interact with each other, dress up, pretend play, and learn all while playing!

My Project

I am asking for materials for our dramatic play. We would like a classroom play food set and a set of community worker costumes with accessories for those important jobs. I am also asking for a Pretend and Play doctor set. Having these materials in our dramatic play area will offer our students numerous learning opportunities in all developmental areas, especially communication!
