My Students

Every morning my students with special needs are eager to enter the classroom. They love to take books from our class library, however, many of the books are too difficult for them to read. I would like each child to increase their reading levels. Our class library is in need of a serious makeover.

I have seven boys in my class and they all have individual special needs.

They all have strengths in different areas, however, reading seems to be the common thread that is lacking. I try to get as many books in their hands as I can but, my classroom library is lacking. This is my first year teaching in this school and the library is what I inherited. My favorite quote is "The Readers of Today Are the Leaders Of Tomorrow." I want my students to develop a love for reading so they have the opportunity to become Leaders.

My Project

The way I envision the Leveled Library being used in my classroom by students is each child reading at their just right level with support from me. It is my hope that students will be able to read closely and gather information to become critical readers at their own level. I intend to use the Leveled Library during guided reading instruction and independent reading.

This donation will make a difference in the lives of these special learners because it will allow them to be successful at their own pace.

They will become more confident readers, by building their stamina, confidence and love for reading. I can't wait for their eyes to light up when they can find a book at their just right level and read it with out any assistance and feel confident.
