My Students

Technology is slowly taking over the education systems. In order to provide use of evidence-based practice, my adult students with disabilities need printers to assist them in creating resumes, printing out simple recipes and looking up current events.

My wonderful students have multiple disabilities ranging from Down's Syndrome to visual impairments.

Students with disabilities are granted education through the school districts until the age of 22. My students are young adults who attend my "Transition Education College" program to obtain the functional living skills needed to become self-sufficient or independent. We are currently in a high school setting which allows the students to have general education peers and friends.

My Project

The students will benefit from the Brother J475DW wireless printer so that they create their own independent living guides equipped with simple at-home recipes, current job listing in the area, resume practice, job interest surveys, classroom stores documents, and current events. The wireless printer will be compatible with our newly obtained Google Chromebooks that we recently from another Donors Choose Project in which we will receive in the middle of September. The LC103 printer ink is the high ink series that is compatible with the Brother J475DW series. It yield 600 prints which will last us the whole school year. The AC Power Adapter for 17 Inch Dell 1701FP/1702FP LCD Monitor cord will allow us to use the monitor for our students with hearing and visual impairments.

This donation of printers, ink and monitor cord will impact the productivity of the students and will create a independent education environment for my students with multiple disabilities.

The students will learn how to create resumes and present them to local employers in the community.
