I am a Special Education teacher for 4th and 5th grade students, seeking funding for magazine subscriptions to Time For Kids and Weekly Reader.

Keeping abreast with current events is an important part of being an active contributor to the community. My students are not yet strong enough readers to make sense of our local daily news papers, although we have weekly current events discussions. My goal is to establish an interest in reading daily news for my students that will continue throughout their lives.

Finding non-fiction materials is often difficult that the children find interesting and on their reading level; yet a crucial aspect of daily reading and standardized testing. The Weekly Reader and Time For Kids magazines are very visual and filled with subjects that children are interested in, as well as important world issues. Remember having a magazine subscription and anticipating the next issue...these magazines will arrive to the classroom on a regular basis throughout the year, an exciting delivery for the students to look forward to reading.

Thank you for providing materials to keep my students in the loop with current events and help instill a life long habit of reading about the world they live in.
