Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Could you imagine a day go by with out grasping a pencil/pen or holding things in your hand with out dropping them? My students struggle daily with fine motor skills. They have a large need to improve these skills to help with their daily lives!

I have the majority of my class year after year.

I teach a k-5 unit of self contained special needs students with sever cognitive disorders. Most of my students have downs syndrome. Most of my students tend to have very low verbal skills and low muscle tone. We need lots of assistance to get through our day! We are a school in a small town that's growing slowly. Most of the students in my school are on free or reduced lunch and a lot are not English speaking as a first language. We are a title one school. Teachers in our area can use as much help as possible to make school awesome because our students home lives aren't always the best nor do they have a lot!

My Project

We need fun fine motor games/activities to help the students stay engaged and entertained. My Special needs students learn best by play. The tweezers and scoops help them gain control of Thier little hands while they are learning, sorting skills, colors, and numbers.

This project will help our students gain new skills and practice their fine motor skills.

Its important to help them be able to use their hands for harder task to make them more independent in the future. The ability to use our hands in finer motor skills will also improve their education experiences.
