My Students

I teach at a public charter school that has the primary objective of preparing all students to be college ready.

My 10th grade students need better access to technology in order to be academically successful in our Social Science World History classroom!

They are hardworking and determined, but insufficient technology in the classroom limits how successful they can be.

However, because many of my students live beneath the poverty line, a majority of their families cannot purchase necessary items needed to successfully complete course requirements. This greatly affects how academically successful many of my students can be in my Social Science World History course. But, I believe with the introduction of new resources, this can change!

My Project

The chairs that I am requesting for my students already have a special place in our classroom - their seats! In other words, the students will get to use these special chairs to signify they are the Special Helpers for the day. We just need your help in getting the chairs to our classroom! The chairs are high quality since they will be used all day long, every day, all year long by various students. The 2 Special Helpers are randomly selected every day, and everyone eventually get the opportunity to be a Special Helper. The Special Helpers are our World History Classroom Experts: they are required to look up the various questions that are asked throughout the class period that come up as we are learning, and provide the answers to us all (allowing the rest of the class to stay on task!), and they help other students with the daily assignments by being the Daily Topic Experts. The chairs will be offered to the students directly at their assigned seats so they may work where they are already comfortable.

The donations to this project will help to improve my students' accountability by signifying in a positive way to their peers that they are the Daily Experts, thereby giving them a sense of worth and significance that comes through being the ones who are considered most knowing for the day.

By implementing the Special Helper World History Classroom Experts, my students will begin to see themselves as true historians. We will use these materials to aid us in the process of supporting lifelong learners in the pursuit of knowledge, new and old. Thank you for assisting us in this ongoing goal!
