Help me give my students who are neurodiverse the specific supplies they need that would assist them in being successful in a usually neurotypical classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Speaking With the SpEDs addresses how my years of experience with Neurodivergent youth have allowed me the opportunity to learn their language. Learning and understanding them has shown me how to better service them but has also allowed me to learn life from them and through their eyes. It is not up to them to conform to how neurotypicals do things, but, to teach them how they learn and listen in their language. It is how I respect who they are and what they contribute to our village.
All of these items selected are what my students need to address their unique needs.
The sand writing and lined paper and boards will help them with their occupational therapy needs. The sensory items will assist them in concentration. We use the colorful markers specifically for decoding our words.
