My Students

I believe that all students can achieve. I also believe that most underachieving students are simply disinterested by low quality classroom presentations that do not meet the bar set by the technology they use outside of school everyday.

My school is transitioning to a Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering Academy next year, but my students are not engaged by the technology in my classroom.

They have grown up in a world with texting at their fingerprints, music playing in their ears, and movies in the palms of their hands, but they show up to a classroom where video presentations can hardly be heard through the tiny, dated speakers plugged into my computer.

My Project

With new, high quality speakers for my classroom, my students will be able to hear crisp, engaging audio from a myriad of engaging science videos. Bill Nye will be able to speak to students in a voice just as audible as when my students put their iPods into their ears. Soothing music will assuage the fears of nervous test takers reviewing before the big quiz.

Most of all, my students will know that hundreds of people believe that just because they attend a low income school, they shouldn't be stuck with low quality technology.

They will understand that they have a right to an education that is just as engaging and entertaining.
