This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My co-SLP and I support a hardworking and enthusiastic group of diverse learners. In our elementary speech therapy room, we strive to engage and inspire our students as they work to strengthen and build their communication.

As speech-language pathologists, we have the incredible privilege of helping our students find their voices, express their needs, and develop the skills to communicate confidently.

Many of our students face speech and language development challenges, and we’ve found that using a combination of speech therapy games and sensory tools can make a world of difference in their progress. These interactive tools create a fun, engaging, and supportive environment that motivates students to work on their communication skills while providing the sensory input they need to focus and stay calm.

We are excited to introduce this project and bring these crucial resources to our classroom! The games and sensory tools we are requesting will not only help our students build essential speech and language skills but also improve their ability to engage, focus, and feel at ease during therapy sessions.

Why These Tools Are Needed:

Speech Therapy Games

Fun and interactive speech therapy games are invaluable for keeping students engaged. They help with articulation, vocabulary building, sentence structure, and social communication skills. These games also encourage peer interaction, turn-taking, and problem-solving, all of which support social language development.

Sensory Tools

Many of my students have sensory processing needs or are on the autism spectrum, which can affect their ability to focus during therapy. Sensory tools are especially useful for students who may become overwhelmed or distracted during therapy sessions, allowing them to better manage their sensory needs while working on their communication goals.
