Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Interested in meeting hardworking, determined, and vested students? Interested in students whose drive in creating a meaningful high school experience is of utmost importance? This year, we are looking to expand and develop experiential learning opportunities through travel experiences.

This project was inspired after our school won the participatory Facebook InspirEd Challenge.

Such a project enabled 3 of our students to travel to Facebook HQ's, and participate in the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence Symposium. Upon return, students emphasized the need for experiential learning assignments through travel. Student feedback was continually to make such experiences "big." Hence, we are looking to implement a travel program for our youth.

My Project

Our students have been longing for experiential learning opportunities. The purpose of this trip is to have our students travel to Washington D.C. after fundraising costs through diverse ventures. Many students who completely rely on fundraising are looking to build their entrepreneurial skills through such activities.

While in D.C.

students will reinforce their in-class learning on our nation's history by actually experiences sites where such history took place. We are hoping to build such an initiative into a permanent program, in which we can take students on exploratory, experiential learning ventures! Our youth will create a post-trip review to share what they learned and experienced.
