Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income high poverty school, my student-athletes are faced with many challenges. Both in the classroom as well as outside the classroom. Despite such challenges the students face, I am looking to keep things simple by helping them get healthy and stay healthy. Having a healthier life can build self-confidence which is what the majority of my students need.

The boy's basketball team is in need of equipment in order to stay in shape and healthy for next years competitions.

We plan to participate in different leagues throughout the school year. The school has had limited funding to provide the students with proper equipment for road games and proper workouts.

My Project

We have 2 basketball teams, the junior varsity and varsity team at MSSH. With a new coach and semi-new team, we have faced obstacles most teams had not had to face. Our team has been competing and doing very well this year. Coming into a new school with limited funding, and underprivileged students have made it difficult to get the kids the gear and equipment most schools already have. This project would help our students feel more confident and allow them to compete in our district.

This project would significantly help our student-athletes finish off their season strong.

We are very proud of our boys and the hard work they have put in thus far. Funding this project would take us to the next level of competition.

Having the proper equipment to train hard will allow me as their coach to teach these boys the proper basketball techniques. The mannequins will be used to help our athletes work their way around the defender. Using the proper equipment for training, stretching will also help them be more agile and perfect basketball fundamentals that some are lacking. I am also requesting shirts, socks, backpacks, and shoes.

Some of our athletes did not learn the proper fundamentals, and in doing so it will allow to turn their game up to the next level.
