This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a Special Education Coordinator I work to ensure not only are my students academic needs are met but their social emotional needs as well. On a weekly basis my school hosts a wonderful mentoring program titled GEMS. This program is designed to empower and give purpose to young girls by helping them grow personally through guidance, support, knowledge and sharing, building them into strong women and future leaders. We would love to have a circut maker machine and materials to help the girls design GEM paraphernalia. This project will also build a sense of community and provide opportunities for collaboration and team work. The girls will be making t-shirts, signs and decals that represent their group. They are excited to create and rep their designs.
