The students in my class need that extra guidance and structure to turn their natural curiosity and activity into something more scientific. Many of my students are English language learners and need the opportunity to engage in rich scientific inquiry with engaging and motivating materials.
Scientific inquiry provides children the opportunity to engage in many tasks and skills including making observations, engaging in focused exploration, using scientific tools, drawing conclusions, and sharing ideas.
The materials we are requesting would give all my students a chance to engage in more interactive learning and scientific inquiry. It is with these materials requested that my students will be able to investigate and explore the natural world around them.
The I Can Build It Construction Planks could help my students become their own architects and builders in our Buildings and Homes unit. The Roll and Race Activity Ramp would be a great addition to our Transportation Unit. Our students could learn how different textures affect speed and have fun races with their friends. The Changing Seasons Sensory Tubes are great visuals that will help my students learn how trees change throughout the seasons and will support language development for our English Language Learners. The Lakeshore Bread Basket will support my students during our Bread Unit by learning about the different types of bread we eat. The Breads Around the World Basket will allow my students to learn about other cultures and see how we are the same and different. The Microscope and Binoculars can help my students investigate and explore with a hands-on experience throughout all of our different units during the year.
I would love the opportunity to provide an environment that fosters scientific thinking with the right materials to exercise their curiosity and further open the pathway to learning for these young scientists.
