Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first grade teacher, it is so important to cultivate a love of reading among my students and inspire them to become confident, joyful readers.

With a classroom set of stuffed animals and flashlights, my students will look forward to independent reading time every day and build a lifelong passion for literacy.

The stuffed animals will be used as Book Buddies that the students practice reading to in order to build their confidence. I have also requested a large bin to store all of them in.

The flashlights will be for Flashlight Fridays, where we turn the lights off, put a campfire video on the Smart Board and pretend that we are reading while camping!

Learning to read can be a huge challenge for many children. With your support, my students will develop a lasting love for reading that builds their confidence and helps them succeed.
