This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

“The role of the artist is that of the soldier of the revolution.” – Diego Rivera

In the heart of an underserved school, where 93% of students are eligible for free or reduced lunch, an art club for 5th and 6th graders has become a safe space for nurturing inclusivity, creativity, and critical thinking.

Founded on the belief that art education is not about teaching students what to think, rather, teaching students how to think; Art club has become a pivotal space for young minds to explore, ask questions, and express themselves.

Art club is a platform for students to explore their identities, challenge societal norms, and contribute to a more thoughtful, inclusive world. Here, students are not just taught to paint, draw, or sculpt; they are encouraged to imbue their works with their voices, perspectives, and critiques of the world around them.

However, Resources for art education are scarce, and the club has relied on teacher contributions for basic supplies. The specific items we're seeking funding for—quality paints, brushes, canvases, and multimedia tools—will significantly enhance their learning experience. These materials will enable our students to experiment with different mediums, techniques, and forms of expression, further enriching their artistic and critical development.

Through art, we seek to cultivate a generation of thinkers, innovators, and leaders who approach the world with empathy, curiosity, and a critical eye. By supporting our art club, you're not just funding materials; you're investing in the future of these young creators. In a world where critical thinking and creativity are more important than ever, your support can make all the difference. Join us in nurturing the minds and talents of these extraordinary students, and together, let's see the world anew through their eyes and artwork.
