Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are enthusiastic learners who are ready to prepare themselves for the future. They are in their last year of elementary school (6th graders) and I want to prepare them for the future. My goal is to make sure my students are ready for the challenges of middle school.

My 6th grade students are awesome!

They are hard-working students who are always ready to learn new things. They enjoy reading and writing in English and Spanish. They love to ask questions in class. They come from a low-income background and don't have all the resources they need at home. However, that doesn't stop them from wanting to succeed. My students have goals and dreams that they are determined to accomplish!

My Project

My students need a class set of calculators in order to make learning math easier in the classroom. The new calculators will enable my students to concentrate on understanding the mathematical concepts instead of spending time on tedious calculations. The Common Core Standard also expect students to be fluent with calculators. If my students didn't have to worry about computation mistakes, they would be able to focus on reasoning and problems solving instead. Using calculators in the classroom will be a simple instrument to use in the classroom as well as in life in general.

Any donations made to this project will improve my classroom in so many ways.

It will allow my students to use newer and improved calculators as a tool for learning math. It will allow my students to get comfortable using different types of technology in the classroom but at the same time, teach them not to rely completely on calculators to solve all math problems.
