My Students

My classroom of 27-5th graders includes 16 boys and 11 girls whom are all eager and excited for any and all things ROBOT! My 5th graders would greatly benefit from learning math, reading, and coding skills using the Sphero Spark+ robots.

Our class quote this year is from Sphero and says, "Failure IS an option here.

If things are not failing, you are not innovating enough." We have this posted in the front of our classroom and written in our daily planners and precept journals as well. Using Sphero robots creates a safe environment to fail and then to learn from failing.

My Project

Sphero Spark+ school edition has designed lessons in math, reading, science and technology that are of high interest to students using Sphero robots. Using Sphero Spark+ robots will students will learn 5th grade math skills using hands-on materials in a collaborative environment.

We use Sphero's many ways in 5th grade; for example to collaborate, to learn about finding success from failure, and more specifically for math concepts like measurement, understanding angles, addition and subtraction of more complex numbers, relating fractions and decimals concepts, geometry and more.

This robot provides an uncommon ground for all students to take a risk and learn new things from the peers.
