My Project

My 8th grade special education students are all first generation American learners. They have limited resources and connections to the world around them. In my classroom, students will explore both magazines - Storyworks and Choices, both subscriptions from Scholastic in order to prepare for 21st century success.

Storyworks magazine is designed to build strong readers, writers and thinkers and it empowers every student to become a confident learner though a variety of unforgettable texts and ELA activities.

Choices magazine helps students develop and apply must-have skills such as resiliency, stress management and empathy to navigate our world with. They will be provided with engaging nonfiction in both print and digital formats. Using both magazines in my classroom will encourage critical and independent thinking and a lifelong love of reading and learning.
