Please join me in my effort of inspiring a love of speaking and listening in Spanish in my students. I am a high school Spanish teacher in a high needs New York City school.

I try my best to be creative and not teach out of our outdated textbook every single day, but limited school resources prevent me from doing this with ease.

I would love to be able to show my students and supplement my lessons with the Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish video series. By being able to occasionally watch a Destinos episode my students will be reinforcing grammar and vocabulary learned in class while at the same time hear accents from around the Spanish speaking world. By using a different medium in class, my students will be both better engaged and more prepared to tackle higher level high school and college level Spanish courses. The cultural component of the video series whose main characters travel throughout the Spanish speaking world will expose my students to different accents as well as different parts of the world. This is so important as in a few years they will be going off to college and be exposed to a variety of accents, people, and opportunities. An interest and familiarity with the culture and people of Spanish speaking countries will hopefully keep them studying a second language and get them interested in studying abroad.

Your help will not only get my students speaking confidently in a second language but also help me realize my goals and give my students the enriching experience that they deserve.
