This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an ENL teacher I make sure my classroom reflects my students and their needs. My project is to build a multicultural, multilingual library that students can see themselves in. At the moment, our charter school does not have many Spanish books at all. Having an abundance of Spanish literature not only promotes a love of reading for Spanish speakers but it supports students English acquisition as well. Students will use these books during DEAR (drop everything and read) periods as well as during ELA reading blocks. There’s nothing quite like getting lost in a good book. Thank you!
