My Students

My students are a diverse group of learners, as I teach an ICT classroom with general education students and special needs students.

Our students come from diverse backgrounds and they each come with their own special story and special needs.

My Project

The goal of our project is to build a calming space in our classroom as well as to provide sensory tools so that children can learn to self-regulate. Our project includes a small bed that will serve a small soft space for children to take a break from their daily activities. In this area, children will find self regulation tools like massage balls, fidgets and weighted plush animals.

Each child has a unique set of sensory needs.

Weighted pillows and sensory tools can be used to provide calming input when a student becomes "overloaded" or when their engine is running high. Sensory input can help a child stay focused and organized throughout the day.
