Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our district has made the move to new furniture to allow for flexible seating. This is a wonderful alternative to the traditional desk arrangement. However, not all of the desks allow for the students to keep their supplies with them. This makes for longer transition times and cramped working areas. These desk pockets will help my students stay organized and keep their supplies with them. This will help us move from subject to subject quicker and allow all of my students to stay prepared. Transition times can take some time as it is and we waste valuable learning time getting supplies from across the room and readjusting. I have rearranged my room numerous times. There just isn't a way to cut down on time because someone will inevitably need to get their supplies. I have also tried having the three drawer plastic bins at each group, but the supplies then get mixed up, lost, or broke. With the limited space we already have the extra furniture didn't allow me to safely get around each student to help them with their work. I have been in other classes that use the seat pockets, and the difference was amazing! I really want to take the burden off of my scholars and give them a more harmonious working space. With all of their hard work they deserve it!
