Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school community has been deeply impacted by this pandemic. Without much notice, students, families and teachers did their best to respond to sudden school closures. My students are creative, clever and very enthusiastic about learning. The majority of my students would benefit from a variety of classroom resources to help increase their success in our newly established distance remote learning platform.

More importantly, this project will provide tools to help them destress and cope with the changes they are facing.

Despite the hardships they are facing with school being closed, they are eager readers, writers, artists and mathematicians. I would like to support them as much as possible. Since March 17, 2020 my students have been learning at home. School will be closed due to the COVID-19 virus for the rest of the school year. This presents a challenge, as most of my students do not have access to supplies in their homes. Funding this project would help get some materials and resources to deal with this transition.

My Project

Please help me give my students social emotional tools for home and distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students are not able to leave their homes due to the quarantine in Los Angeles and most likely facing challenges and stress.

By donating to this project, my students will receive their choice of slow-rising squishies, which they can use when they are feeling frustrated, stressed or anxious.

This project will provide tools to help them identify feelings and give a small sense of relief. Many of them enjoy items they can use multiple times. During school closures, students need to feel seen and heard; this can help. Additionally, some of my students require more support for reading and their fluency. These tools will help them feel successfully while at home.
