Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students face huge challenges. Over 90% of our South Bronx students receive government support. Yet, our students still thrive here! They are predominately from low-income households and must receive help from the government. We are in a high crime area.

Still, our students are dedicated, show up, and are ready to learn.

We far exceed the city's graduation rate! This is how much grit and desire our students have to be the best they can be. They just need support.

My Project

Many of our students are having a hard time dealing with the effects of Covid and being back in school. We are taking some kids and doing restorative circles, and want to use stress toys and balls to teach them how to self regulate.

With the use of stress balls, lessons will center around breathing, coping when angry and how to get themselves to self regulate.

We plan on giving the students the stress toys to keep so they can practice what they learn in the classrooms so they are not being sent out.
