Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a very rough neighborhood. Most of them living well below poverty, and many with at home stress issues they carry with them every day. They are only 5 or 6 years old but have already experienced trauma and emotional stress no child should. With so much going against them they still manage to have a smile and push themselves to learn and grow. I enjoy every moment I see them grow.

My students will always get my best because I know they give me theirs despite such rough community environments.

I know its going to be a great day and start of the week when my students come to school Monday morning smiling, excited to share what they did, or asking what we will do today. When they are in school they seem to forget or not realize just how rough their community is, and I'm happy to be a part of the reason they come smiling.

My Project

These supplies will help my students increase their phoneme, print, and phonological awareness by having a variety of engaging activities for them to do.

The variety of activities hitting the same skill will better simulate our students' learning.

Practicing print or tracing can become boring and repetitive on a piece of paper, but now they have a magnetic board or a magnetic touch pad?! Yes please! Looking at black and white printed picture cards will get ripped easily, but having manipulative toys that match with a letter sound makes learning more fun!

I will use these activities during rotations while helping my own group master a specific skill. During this time it is very important that the students are engaged in an activity that they can do on their own but is also stimulating enough for them to learn and practice an essential skill to their language development. These supplies will certainly make that task a reality. I hope for your continued support in this endeavor.
