Being a supporter to my 18 students is a job that I am so proud to have.
In my school, more than 90% of the students come from high poverty situations, and 100% receive free breakfast and lunch. While these students face many challenges, they come to school excited and eager to learn each day. My goal is to provide these sweet kids with endless opportunities, and to show them that they truly can be anything they set their minds to.
My Project
For my project, I am requesting an Echo Dot Kids Edition and a wireless doorbell. These are two forms of technology that will be brand new to my classroom and yet will be so engaging and interactive for my students. The Echo Dot will allow students to ask the "robot" kid friendly questions, such as how to spell certain words or facts about various topics we are learning about! This will help students take initiative to learn more, while interacting with a form of technology that is censored and safe for them to use.
The wireless doorbell that I am asking for is a great resource for me to use to get the students' attention throughout the day.
This doorbell has over 50 different chimes that can be changed as the day goes on. The doorbell is wireless, so I will be able to carry the button with me around the classroom. When the students hear the sound, they know to freeze and follow further instructions. Having a device that is able to change sounds will help keep the students on their toes and will get their attention easily. These two forms of technology will really be beneficial to the students in my classroom by helping us to take initiative and be as proactive as possible!
