This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello! This year, I am taking under my wings 52 spunky third graders that have been attending school online since they were in first grade due to the pandemic. They are all now in school, many for the first time in almost two years. My students are excited, eager to learn, and have a thirst for meaningful hands-on experiences.

There are a number of challenges I face while teaching, and one of the biggest, is making sure my students maintain a safe distance from one another, while still partaking in fun activities that help them not only catch up academically but also have the opportunity to engage in stimulating ways.

My Project

The stereo/mono headphones will help students engage in meaningful digital activities allowing them to hear the prompts clearly to answer questions, and create digital projects online. Although students are attending school in person, many of the assessments are completed online.

Our school is one of many here in South Florida that were built in the 1980's in the style of an open pod.

There are no walls between the classrooms. This means that teachers have to monitor that noise level, especially for students that have difficulty focusing with so much noise coming from all corners of the room.
