Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in a school in Upper Manhattan in an area called Washington Heights. The students are very inquisitive and active. They have a desire to learn more and sometimes we have a hard time keeping up with them. Our students are predominantly Latino such as Dominican, Mexican, El Salvadorian, Ecuadorian, Guatemalan, and a smaller percentage are African American.
Our school is Pre-k through fifth grade and we have many activities that keep the teachers and students busy.
I am the technology "go to" person and our dance program needs support. Music and dance go hand in hand as children begin to think with their bodies, exploring the world and space around them, music plays such an important role. It helps accompany movement task, assists with transitioning, and sets the overall mood for dance activities.
My Project
The VocoPro PV-802 Professional Stereo Vocal Speakers and Insignia Stereo Receiver will assist with learning dance technique and motor skills. With the music, the students will be able practice social skills, rhythmic and body awareness. They will be able to confidently express their emotions and explore performance concepts.
The dancers will be able to perform in our new dance studio and will support all the students who enter the facility.
We can also do a variety of parent dance workshops so the families and the community will feel involved in their child's learning experience. With the new sound system, the students can properly engage themselves in the arts. Thank you.
