My Students

My students need a widescreen projector screen to augment their viewing experience and make it accessible from every seat in the classroom

My students represent the diversity that defines America.

They are from everywhere in the world. What unites them is a love of film, and southern California is the capital of that world. They communicate through the language of film. They share their experiences through film images. Last year, when I began to build a functional theater in my classroom for my cinema and Language Arts classes, I was lucky enough to purchase a widescreen projector screen for the classroom. It gave every student the experience of being in an actual movie theater. Unfortunately, someone broke into the class one night and removed it. I have been looking to replace it ever since. Films are important to my students; it is how they excel in communication.

My Project

Sound and sight go hand in hand in cinema. With a blu-ray home theater system the upgrade to the aural component will be amazing. Yet, with a blu-ray 3D player, the screen I will be projecting images upon needs to be enhanced. The best screen surface that I could find for front projection is the Projecta Model B 92' Pull-Down Projector Screen. When ambient light is controllable, which it is in my class room, this screen enables unlimited viewing angles and masterful reproduction of color or black and white. The whole film experience will be raised to a new level once it is all installed.

I want students to be immersed in the film--to be captured and spirited away.

These enhancements and upgrades will make my classes an enthralling experience. Students will have a one-of-a-kind experience in my class, and it will help build my program and my small learning community.
