This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hello! I am a second grade teacher in a high poverty area, which provides free breakfast and lunch for our needy students.

Unfortunately, my district is having financial difficulties and needs to make budget cuts for the upcoming school year. I was just informed that teachers will no longer be receiving any supply money to purchase needed items for their classrooms. Although I will be personally purchasing miscellaneous supplies for my room, I am also asking you for help with some items that I need.

My classroom needs a small scale to assist with math activities and also a pencil sharpener to sharpen all those new pencils on the first day of school! In addition, I am asking for a class set of clipboards, which will provide students with a writing surface on the carpet and in the computer lab. Lastly, I am in need of a large rack to hold class big-books. Right now, my big-books are in a pile on the floor. The rack will make it easier for students to see and choose big-books to read.

It’s wonderful to see people and organizations take an active role in students’ education. I appreciate your generosity in donating items my students need to help them be successful. Having needed items also enables a classroom to run smoothly and efficiently. Students are more engaged in learning. Thank you for your support!
