Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

From experience, one thing I know is my students will be a group of very energetic and curious 4-5 year olds. For some of my children, this will be their first time in a school building. It may also the first time they are socializing with children their own age due to the pandemic. I know these children are going to be so excited to learn new things every day!

Last year due to our hybrid/remote learning, many of our children lost out on real Hands On Learning with their peers, I don't want that to happen again this year.

I want our children to have as many Hands On Activities and experiences as those who have passed through our doors before them.

When we left school last year we were hoping everything would be back to normal, but I guess the reality is there will always be a new normal, at least for a while. One constant is that our children will always be learning and Hands On Learning will always be a part of that.

My Project

What 4 or 5 year old does not like to look at and play with colorful objects? Hands On Activities are very important at this age. They are very curious about the world around them and are always asking questions. What if they could get to know their friends while playing um, I mean learning?

I can hear it now, “ I have 3 grown ups in my house and my grandma lives a few blocks away.” They can actually show and tell each other about themselves thus practicing their counting, speaking and listening skills all by playing and sorting and above all, learning.

My children will be able sort family members by name into houses, they can tell about their favorite dinosaurs, they can tell about the time they went fishing while sorting sea creatures. There are endless possibilities for all kinds of learning and many speaking opportunities as well. With your help my children will be sorting, counting and speaking as they prepare for a lifetime of learning while doing what matters most at this age, playing with their friends.
