My Project

I am the student council advisor for the sophomore class. The primary goal of student council is to raise money needed for the senior year activities, like prom and graduation. As the advisor I am responsible for teaching the students how to plan, execute, and evaluate fundraisers during the year. Most of the students do not have experience raising money and do not know how to get started on this endeavor.

A snack cart would provide students with an opportunity to learn how to set financial goals, investigate costs, and tabulate profits.

The students would learn how to price items that would be sold on the cart for maximum profit. They would also have to learn how to advertise the when and where the snack cart would be open. One those days the students would have to sell the snacks, ensuring they receive the correct payment and give change, if needed. At the end of each sale students will learn how to calculate their profit and discuss ways to reinvest for the next sale.
