My Project

I am an Addictions/Life Skills Counselor working in two inner-city schools. Our students are often overwhelmed with life's stressors. As a means to cope they often self-medicate with marijuana, alcohol, and vapes. Giving students alternatives to using these drugs can be life-changing.

One such method would be to create an atmosphere of calm where students can produce positive decision-making when confronted with life's stressors.

Aromatherapy candles can be therapeutic producing a calming effect with their soft light and fragrance, reducing stress and anxiety. improving mood and promoting relaxation. A changed attitude can be seen in the students' ability to make decisions more effectively when their senses are not heightened with negativity and a desire to use drugs. Overall goal as a result will show in their increased attendance, increased academic performance, and reduced negative behaviors.

Help me give my students this unique opportunity to invest in themselves, an alternative coping technique to dealing with life's stressors. Improving their overall health and well-being.
