My Students

Our school is public high school in the Chicago Public School system. Over the past 16 years of our school's existence, we have become a nationally ranked high school, consistently ranking in the top 5 in the state of Illinois and the top 50 in the nation. Despite the struggles faced by the state and inflexible budgeting we have been able to produce students that perform in the top 5% on national standardized exams. As a recipient of two National Blue Ribbon Awards (2008, 2014), US News and World Report Top 100 High Schools for 9 years, and #1 International High School in the US, we have created an environment in which students feel comfortable to explore the world around them.

Our diverse student body draws from all over Chicago, with many traveling over an hour from various neighborhoods all over the city.

We strive to create well rounded individuals based on our guiding principles: curiosity, compassion, character, and courage. Each student experiences growth over the course of their time at P. in all aspects of their person. We strive to prepare students for future success academically, physically, and emotionally.

My Project

This year will be the first year that students from our school will be traveling to Australia. We will be working with students from another school in Melbourne, as well as local agencies, on a service learning project that aims to to combat youth homelessness.

The Australia trip in which we will participate is part of a larger school program, the goal of which is to ensure that every student, regardless of socioeconomic status, will be able to travel the world to broaden horizons, connect ideas, and be an active leader in constructing a more just and sustainable future.

Our school develops global citizens by not only embedding global issues and diverse perspectives across the disciplines but also by extending students' learning via affordable, school-based international trips and exchanges.
