Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

First grade is an exciting time of transition for little ones. I have the honor of being ones of the first teachers a child will meet. At Claude Pepper Elementary School, my Morning Meetings is an engaging way to connect with my students at the beginning of each day. Along with teaching reading, I establish a culture of kindness, citizenship with my ELL (English Language Learners) students, and give them ownership of the classroom and teach responsibility.

It's so rewarding to see my students grasp a new skill or concept and be excited about learning.

Young children are truly like sponges and absorb information at an alarming rate! When children are given the opportunity to PLAY and learn with developmentally appropriate materials, they blossom before our eyes. The curiosity and eagerness that my students exhibit for learning about the world around them never ceases to amaze me.

My Project

Combining new tech like VR (virtual reality) with traditional classroom instruction is one example of how the introduction of new technology can enhance the learning experience and create new opportunities.

An appropriate classroom solution will support the shift in instruction in my classroom from whole class to personalized learning.

Having Chromebooks computers will deliver new and existing materials at the right pace and level for each child based on their specific needs. Research and data show that using Chromebooks in the classroom demonstrate creative thinking, high IQ scores, and good problem solving skills.

Many Chromebooks come with built-in cameras and meaning QR codes that my students can use to structure the learning process. These tools offer a variety of educational opportunities and the traditional passive learning model can be broken. Technology transforms the learning experience and my students can use a universe of apps teaching creative thinking in an interactive manner. I can also use apps that can empower my students to collaborate with other students and make projects together.

Students have access to an incredible amount of new opportunities. From learning how to code to learning how to better collaborate across teams and with their instructors-technology empowers students to be more creative and be more connected. New tech has super-charged how we learn today.
