Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This upcoming year I will have the privilege of moving from fourth grade teaching all subjects, to fifth grade English Language Arts and Science. I will have sixty-six energetic students, twenty-three of which are my current students. My classroom also includes many English Learners from many different countries. They really enjoy working together in small groups as well as with partners. Additionally, they love hands-on activities, projects, and anything messy.

My students really enjoy learning about science and the world around us.

They enjoy coming to school daily and always put their best foot forward! They work hard in everything they do and are always respectful of one another.

My Project

My students' favorite part of the day is science. They love that they are to able to work with materials hands-on. My students also enjoy reading nonfiction text. In addition to working hands on and reading nonfiction text, they have a love for tackling difficult problems that need to be solved.

Using the STEM Journals and Global Challenges Book Set will aid in their understanding of scientific problems as they develop solutions to those problems.

They will be able to work together to create remedies in the areas of: climate, wildlife, waste management, water, energy and pollution. They will also be able to enhance their critical thinking skills through the use of these materials.
