My Project

For the upcoming school year, our Aviation program was given a 1961 Mooney Airplane that the students decided that they wanted to turn into a real feel flight simulator. Other students pushing for a solar car project piggybacked this initiative. After creating a plan with the students, we started looking for a vehicle which led us to a towing company giving us a car in the form of a 1979 Triumph TR7.

The school saw how much the students wanted to do and was able to provide us with a secured, unused lawn space where we could build our projects, both for these and the future.

However, one thing that is missing from this location is electricity, which is difficult to run, expensive to build and truthfully, not clean.

What the students have decided on is creating a STEAM Solar Garden where we can have our own clean, green energy to power our projects. This solar garden will teach students about renewable energy, the engineering skills necessary to build the infrastructure and will allow for lessons to be held for our community feeder schools outside to demonstrate our projects. We also want to use our solar garden to set up EV charging stations as this location is connected to the parking lot.

We want our community to be clean and learn the ways to create a renewable and better future. The creation of the solar garden will allow students the ability to build, construct and design electricity-based projects that are too big for our building. This solar garden will allow the use of this space for years to come.
