My Students

My school community is very diverse. We have students on the autism spectrum, as well as students with other learning disabilities. We have students from low-income housing areas. Some students are identified as gifted and talented. The students at my school are growing up and learning in a community of learners from many different backgrounds. This offers the children amazing opportunities to learn.

I want my kids to see the connection between our learning in the classroom and their everyday lives.

My students are eager to learn. They love working on projects where they get to design, build, and problem-solve. So far this year, they've designed contraptions to keep an egg from breaking when dropped as well as designed and created their own Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons.

My Project

My students love any and all STEAM activities. They love building things with their hands, designing things, testing hypotheses, and then improving their designs based on their observations. My students also love learning about sustainability and ways that they can help make their futures better. I know that my kids will love building their own solar cars.

Through building these solar cars, my students will be able to learn more about solar energy and sustainability.

We will study other ways that solar energy is used around the world. We will talk about the connection between solar energy and sustainability. We will even get an opportunity to think about the future and if we think that solar cars are a viable option for people to use. I love the idea of my kids as the next generation in the workforce. I am confident that they are the next engineers, scientists, creators, artists, doctors, teachers, and so much more. They are going to make change, and giving them this learning opportunity is just a step on their path toward great things.
