My Students

Enhancing the classroom environment for learning is essential for the students to focus on and complete assignments.

They come from multi-lingual backgrounds and live in an urban environment.

The majority of my students experience difficulties with reading and reading comprehension and math skills difficulties. They need support with strategies and skills to help them meet grade-level standards. They also lack the confidence to engage in class discussions. My co-teacher and I are remaking the classroom environment to allow for the safety of our students during the COVID 19 pandemic. We will have to allow for social distancing as well as individualizing the classroom environment. We are a new partnership and we are looking forward to starting this school year in person with our students. Many of our students have speech and language delays and using the remote learning format is not the most effective way to teach these students.

I love how my students help each other in class. They read to and help each other with math assignments is groups. I have several grade levels that work together on a daily basis. I do not know how this situation will change the way that each student interacts.

My Project

My co-teacher and I have a vision of how we may create a safe socially distant learning environment. Using beanbags, we are creating flexible learning pods that are easily cleaned and allow students to have focused and varied learning environments that allow them to be in small groups or isolate themselves from others. During this challenging time for schools, we need to make the learning environment as cheerful as possible, while allowing us to give students options. We are first and foremost concerned with student safety and physical and social-emotional health. These 3 beanbags and the utility cart will help us to manage the environment and maintain social distancing protocols.
