We have created a project to get a book set for our 6th grade teachers. New Kid, by Jerry Craft, portrays everyday racism in a realistic way for younger readers, which is why our 6th grade team of teachers love this book. The realism effortlessly pivots readers and teachers into unexpected and profound topics of conversation. The story may be heartbreakingly accurate as it explores topics such as class, race, micro-aggressions, and self-identity. Moreover, New Kid is an engrossing, humorous, and a vitally important graphic novel that should be required reading for young adolescence in America.
