My Students

Teachers are always challenged to find new and innovative ways to inspire children. School should not be about memorizing information and simply learning by rote. We all learn best by doing.

I teach a gifted class of kindergarten and first grade children at a Montessori school in Florida.

Our goal is to instill in our children a lifetime love of learning by providing them with hands-on experiences. We not only teach course content from textbooks, but we also present material in such a way that students absorb and retain information.

My Project

I would like to do a semester long thematic unit on ancient Greece. We will study Greek art, architecture, mythology, culture, the Olympics, and language. We all know that reading, writing, math, and science are essential to curriculum planning. Sadly, the arts are often forgotten.

I would love to extend the social studies portion by giving my students the opportunity to really engage in activities practiced in Ancient Greece.

Mosaic tiles and weaving were part of everyday life for the early Greeks. I am asking for a class set of mosaic tiles, a weaving loom, and yarn for my classroom. Your donation can help us bring art back into the classroom while learning history, social studies, and mythology!
