Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In first grade we learn about community, American symbols, economics, and geography. The materials in the project will help students learn and understand the social studies topics for 1st grade. Students will get to read American Symbol's books and create a project around one symbol they learned about. They will get to learn the different continents and oceans in the world. Students will get to explore different careers in the community and why people have jobs. They will learn about consumers and producers. Also, good and services.

All of these materials enhances the learning they are doing around 1st grade socials studies!

Students will also learn about building a community in the classroom, school and town. One way we building community in our classroom is we have scholar of the week. This is the star student and we learn about them all week and would get to sit in a special chair from this project. Students learn what does community mean, and outside of your school what is everyone’s job in a community.

Mrs. Kennedy will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by July 12.
