This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a social studies teacher for grades 3-5. I teach in a public school which services many children that are from a low socio-economic background.

As a teacher I teach my students using various techniques for the different learning styles of my students. I will try almost anything to get my students interested and motivated into learning social studies. Recently, I came across a game that was called the Social Studies Quiz Game Show. This game resembles the ever so popular game show Jeopardy. I borrowed this game from another teacher and fell in love with the game. I did not want to give it back. Of course I did give it back though. The game was great for so many reasons. The game allowed for students to work as teams. This was good, because they learn to work cooperatively with their peers. The game has a nice range of topics. Some of the topics are Naming Presidents, Mapping Skills, Explorers, Signs, Community Workers, etc. Also students use math skills when adding their points. Lastly, the game worked as an assessment tool so that I could see what area of social studies students needed more remediation with.

At this point I would like 2 sets of Social Studies Quiz Game Show for Grades 1-3 and 4-6. One set would be for me to use and one set would be my back up or to share with other teachers.
