Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our K-5 students are enthusiastic about hands-on learning opportunities. The majority of students at our Title 1 school live in low-income housing in Brooklyn, New York and we know that our students benefit from a well-planned classroom set-up. The students enjoy working together and social learning is an important part of our classroom routine with the help of centers and small group work.

My Project

As I prepare for this school year, I am looking to create learning spaces that allow for students to be engaged in centers while keeping a safe distance. This is achieved with flexible seating options and a large big book display that helps students to engage in shared reading lessons while sitting further apart. My Kindergarten centers will certainly look different, however it is key to help students feel connected e.g. by using the same type of learning material rather than sharing an item. It is my goal to create safe and new ways for Kindergarten students to work in centers together.
