Help me give my students motivation and social and emotional reassurance. My students are coming back to the building 5 days a week and will need to be ready to face the challenge of in person learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The pandemic has forced NYC schools to be remote. We have had students who are hybrid, coming to school 2 days per week and every other Wednesday and the second group of students come at the end of the week. My students live in Williamsburg and are a diverse group of learners. I love how excited they are when they come into the class. They love to learn and can be silly at times. One of their favorite activity is to tell the class riddles or jokes!
My Project
My students have been in a hybrid model. Each cohort coming a minimum of 2 days per week. Cohorts have been combined and they will see each other in person for the first time.
Our classroom has been expanded and considering social distancing and many personalities, the students are going to need a lot of emotional support to feel safe and loved by their teachers.
We will need to be cognizant of not only the academics but the changes in behavior that may occur now that we are all in one classroom.
