My students are an energetic, lively bunch with lots of creativity! They love learning by moving, playing, and imagining, and thrive in situations that allow them to learn by thinking outside of the box to find solutions. In our classroom, we work hard to consider others' feelings and act with empathy.
Our school is nestled in the wonderful community of Oak Mountain, where we are surrounded by amazing parents and a supportive environment.
One of our very favorite ways to learn together is through picture books; they engage and interest my students more than any other tool and provide thoughtful discussion opportunities.
My Project
As students learn to navigate their social environments and mature together, this set of books will allow them to relate to and interact with characters overcoming challenges through perseverance, thoughtfulness, and community.
We will use these books throughout the year in conjunction with leadership lessons to provide students with the tools and insights necessary to show self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.
As students grow and learn together, the skills they develop in decision making and peer relationships will follow them through life. With resources to engage them with relatable characters and interesting story lines, I can better equip them for any challenges they may face ahead and confidently lead them to responsible choices and outcomes.
