Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a school social worker, and my curriculum is teaching social-emotional learning. If my wish is granted, it will be a success for my most nervous & anxious students. Especially since a lot of my students are dealing with anxiety and other emotional worries. I've noticed that when I'm conducting group sessions and talking about emotions a lot of my students are moving their chairs back & forth, which is very dangerous. I could be giving a lesson on anger management class, or any other emotion and some students still appear to be nervous, which is normal. However, if we had the wibble chairs it would help a lot of my students get some type of sensory relief as well as improve their sitting posture allowing them to sit at ease through the whole social-emotional lesson.

What I love about my students is their eagerness and motivation to learn new ways & new things in life.

My students are always open and willing to talk about social-emotional learning. And although, some days might be more difficult than others. I love that my students are always open to giving their peers the needed support. During my sessions, I talk to my students about self-awareness, I teach them how to recognize their thoughts & emotions, and how these two factors play a major role in their daily behaviors or communication with others. I love being a school social worker, and truth be told any help you can give us will be accepted with the utmost respect.

My students are all special in their own unique way. Some of the students are very friendly & talkative. While others are more subtle & conservative. However, when we start to play games such as the "My Feelings" game, it's like
