Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school has 390 students in attendance that bring their personal best every day. Our students are creative learners and hard-working towards their goals. Our school integrates prompts of depth and complexity within the Common Core Standards to nurture student interests, develop advanced critical thinking, and cultivate problem-solving skills. Our students excel in the arts and thrive with the support of music, theater, visual arts, and dance specialists at our school. The STEAM Lab has fostered our students’ interests in project-based learning and has provided an enriching hands-on experience. Additionally, our multimedia lab empowers scholars to integrate technology across the curriculum and increase the mindset of global awareness that is part of Global Digital Citizenship.

We strive to cultivate knowledgeable, respectful, and caring individuals with a strong work ethic and the 21st-century skills necessary to become positive, contributing members of society.

The instructional design addresses key elements such as research-based pedagogy, integrated content, inquiry-based learning, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and assessment.

My Project

Being back in the classroom has been wonderful for students to learn and socialize with others again! This project will help create an inviting space in our classroom for social-emotional learning foundations. Learning about meditation and breathing exercises are key components in social-emotional learning. Taking the time to teach these techniques and affirmations will help students' mental health as well.

Our space will invite students to take a moment to breathe out their anxieties and relax themselves in certain situations.

A variety of resources such as teacher-created lessons, flexible seating to find a space in the classroom, and meditation boards will build our space for social-emotional learning. Together we can create a welcoming environment that focuses on students and their successes!
