My Students

I co-teach in a monolingual ICT third grade classroom. Most of our students are first-generation American students, mostly Asian Americans.

In our classroom, we try to foster a love for learning about different cultures and caring about their community and world.

My Project

The materials requested will assist in social-emotional learning activities. For the past few years, we have put more of a focus on the social-emotional well-being of our students, and in doing so, have realized the importance of implementing it into their everyday lives.

During this unprecedented and unpredictable time, mindfulness and social-emotional learning will be a crucial and necessary focus of many classrooms.

The books and tools will provide my students with ways to cope and be present with their thoughts, emotions, and physical feelings and serve as an outlet to talk about them. The books and tools will be used in remote learning as well as in-person. They will be used for class read-alouds and accompanying activities. Students will one day be able to access the books and tools when necessary in a separate mindfulness area.
